Choose scraps with lots of contrast to create the blocks in this scrappy quilt.

Materials
Scraps of 3 or more blue, gold and tan prints
Scraps of 4 or more light and dark green prints
Scraps of 4 different yellow solids from medium to dark
1/2 yard dark print for binding
Backing 42" x 54"
Batting 42" x 54"
Neutral-colour all-purpose thread
Quilting thread

Instructions
Step 1. Prepare templates for A and B using patterns given. Cut as directed on each piece for one block; repeat for 12 blocks.

Step 2. Join three A triangles from one colour group with one yellow A referring to the Placement Diagram and photo of quilt for colour suggestions, and to Figure 1 for piecing. Repeat for four A units, one from each colour group; press.

Step 3. Sew B to each A unit as shown in Figure 2; press seams toward B. Note: Sew light green B pieces to the darker yellow A units and dark green B pieces to the lighter yellow A units.

Step 4. Join two light green A-B units as shown in Figure 3; press seams open. Repeat with two dark green A-B units; join to complete one block as shown in Figure 4; press seams open.

Step 5. Repeat Steps 1–4 to complete 12 blocks.

Step 6. Arrange blocks in four rows of three blocks each; press seams in one direction.

Step 7. Join the rows to complete the pieced top.

Finishing the Quilt
Step 1. Sandwich the batting between the completed top and prepared backing; pin or baste layers together to hold.

Step 2. Hand or machine-quilt as desired. When quilting is complete, trim batting and backing even with top; remove pins or basting.

Step 3. Cut five 2 1/4" by fabric width strips dark print for binding. Join strips on short ends to make one long strip. Fold the strip in half along length with wrong sides together; press.

Step 4. Sew binding to quilt edges, mitring corners and overlapping ends. Fold binding to the backside and stitch in place.
