Fuzzy Scarf & Booties
Protect Doggie’s tender pads from the perils of winter with a set of cozy booties—adding the scarf gives the ensemble extra style.

Size
Fits a small dog (12–15 lbs, such as small poodles, small terriers, miniature pinschers, larger Chihuahuas)
Materials
Worsted weight yarn (222 yds/113g per skein):
1 skein blue (A)
Worsted weight fur yarn (90 yds/50g per ball):
1 ball variegated blue (B)
Size 8 (5mm) needles or size needed to obtain gauge
Size H/8 (5mm) crochet hook
Gauge
20 sts and 24 rows = 4 inches/10cm.
Gauge is not critical to this project.
Note
Carry yarn not in use loosely along side of work.
Scarf
With A, cast on 120 sts.
Rows 1–4: Knit.
Rows 5 and 6: With B, knit.
Row 7 and 8: With A, knit.
Rows 9 and 10:v With B, knit.
Rows 11 and 12: With A, knit.
Rows 13 and 14: With B, knit.
Rows 15–18: With A, knit.
Bind off knitwise.
Tassels
Cut 12 strands of A and B, each 12 inches long. Use 6 strands of each colour for each end of scarf. Pull a strand of each yarn halfway through ends of rows at one end of scarf. Gather all ends tog (including yarn ends) and tie in an overhand knot, pushing knot as close to scarf end as possible to form a tassel. Scarf end will gather tog in a point. Trim ends even.
Rep for other end of scarf.
Booties
Make 4
With A, cast on 24 sts.
Rows 1–22: Knit.
Rows 23 and 24: With B, knit.
Row 25 and 26: With A, knit.
Rows 27 and 28: With B, knit.
Row 29 (eyelet row): With A, k1, [yo, k2tog] across row, end with k1.
Row 30: Knit across.
Rows 31 and 32: With B, knit.
Rows 33 and 34: With A, knit.
Bind off knitwise.
Finishing
Sew ends of rows tog forming a cylinder. Weave yarn through cast-on edge and pull yarn tightly to draw opening closed, forming bottom of bootie.
Tie
With A and crochet hook, ch 61. Fasten off;
trim ends.
Starting at centre front of bootie (seam is centre back), weave tie through eyelet row.
To wear, gently place dog’s foot down inside bootie. Pull ends of tie to tighten around dog’s leg; tie ends in a bow.
