Onion Walnut Biscuits

Melt butter in large frying pan on medium-low. Add onion. Cook for about 20 minutes, stirring often, until soft and golden. Add brown sugar and first amount of salt. Stir until brown sugar is dissolved. Set aside. Combine next 6 ingredients in large bowl. Stir until walnuts are coated. Make a well in centre. Beat milk, sour cream and egg with fork in small bowl. Add to well. Add onion mixture. Stir until very soft, sticky dough forms. Drop by 1/4 cup (60 mL) amounts, about 1 1/2 inches (3.8 cm) apart, onto greased 11 x 17 inch (28 x 43 cm) baking sheet. Bake on top rack in 450°F (230°C) oven for about 15 minutes until bottoms are golden. Let stand on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to wire rack to cool. Serve warm. Makes 12 biscuits. |
