Pot Roast

An old-fashioned meal in a pot.
 
Medium potatoes, cut into chunks44
Medium carrots, cut into chunks44
(or use peeled baby carrots)
Medium onions, cut into chunks22
Boneless beef blade (or other) roast 3 lbs.1.4 kg
 
Boiling water1/2 cup125 mL
Beef bouillon powder1 tsp.5 mL
Liquid gravy browner1/2 tsp.2 mL
 
Fresh (or frozen) green beans, halved2 cups500 mL
 
Gravy
 
Lay potato, carrot and onion in bottom of 5 quart (5 L) slow cooker. Place roast on top.

Combine remaining 3 ingredients in small bowl. Stir. Pour over top. Cover. Cook on Low for 10 to 12 hours or on High for 5 to 6 hours until tender.

Add green beans. Cover. Cook on High for 15 to 20 minutes until tender-crisp.

Make gravy with remaining liquid. Serves 8 to 10.
